Mrs. Doris B. Rice, age 96 of Albertville Nursing Home, formerly
from Arab passed away on Friday, October 28, 2011. She was born on
October 26, 1915 in Marshall County, Al. to Ben and Claire Cox
Brock. She attended school in Boaz and also Jacksonville
University. Her career began as an elementary school teacher until
her marriage to Cyrus Russell Rice. Mrs. Rice was a long time
employee of the Bank or Arab and was also a member of the First
Baptist Church of Arab where she was the oldest member.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. Norman and
Julia Alice Rice of Birmingham, Al. and Ben and Sadie Rice of
Huntsville, Al.; Grandchildren: Jim and Catherine Rice of
Birmingham, Geoff and Kathy Rice of Birmingham, Jennifer Rice of
Huntsville, and Brock and Mandy Rice of Destin, Florida, with Seven
Great Grandchildren.
Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her husband: Cyrus Russell
Rice, and her parents: Ben and Clair Cox Brock.
A graveside service was Monday, October 31, 2011 at Arab
Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Paul Murphy officiating.
Visitation was Monday, October 31, 20ll from 10:00 to 10:30 A.M. at
Gober Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers were: Bob Mercer, Ed Sobczak, Lyndell Carter,
Perry Yancey, Aaron Maze and Fred Jones, deacons of the First
Baptist Church.
