Harold Elton Thompson age 71 of Union Grove passed away Mon.
Dec. 26, 2011, at Marshall Medical Center North. Mr. Thompson was
born on Sept. 8, 1940, in Arab, AL to Lester and R.Z. Whitlock
Thompson. He was a retired Contractor/Carpenter with TVA at Brown's
Ferry Nuclear Plant. He and Bonnie Faye Scott Thompson had been
married for almost 52 years. He was the "Leader of the Thompson
Clan and Proud of it" and had been the "Voice" of the Joy Program
on WRAB for many years. Bro. Thompson was a member of Christian
Fellowship Church.
Survivors include Wife: Bonnie Faye Thompson of Union Grove;
Son: Harold Elton Thompson, Jr. and Wife, Rita of Union Grove;
Daughters: Cindy Shumate and Husband, Tim of Union Grove, Shelia
Ringl of Union Grove, Kimberly Radke and Husband, Marty of
Rockmart, GA, Christy Thompson of Union Grove, Nicole Haun and
Husband, Jason of B'ham and Felicia Thompson of Huntsville;
Brothers: Gerald Thompson of Tennessee, Carter Thompson of Holly
Pond, Milton Thompson of Arab, Roger Thompson of Morgan City, Randy
Thompson of Tennessee; Sisters: Wilma Ludwig of Maine, Sherry
Merritt of Red Hill, Janet Casey of Arab and Judy Fry of Union
Grove; Grandchildren: Shannon Lowery, Phillip Thompson, Justin
Parks, Tiffinie Baxter, Levi Ringl, Logan Satterfield, Marty Radke,
Crimson Buckmeir, Alex and Tyler League, Brandon Radke, Kassie

Funeral Service was Thurs. Dec. 29, 2011, at 3 PM at New
Friendship Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Visitation was Wed. from 6-8 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel.
He lay in state at the Church from 2-3 PM on Thurs. Gary
Harvell and Dennis Stillwell officiated. Pallbearers were:
Ricky Frye, Phillip Thompson, Justin Parks, Marty Radke, Brandon
Radke and Caleb London; Honorary were: Ricky Satterfield, O'Neal
Scott, Tyler League, and Brenden London
