Mr. James Eugene "Gene" Cox age 85 of Arab died Sunday Oct. 9,
2011, at his residence. Mr. Cox was born on August 19, 1926, in
Arab, AL to James Lawrence and Cora Lee Solley Cox. He was in the
US Army Air Corp in 1945 and 1946. He retired after working as an
electrician for Redstone Arsenal and was a member of Arab First
Baptist Church.
Gene is survived by Brother and Sister in law: Ray and Sally Cox
of Arab; Nephews: Dr. Jimmy and Wife, Celia Cox of Houston, TX, Lee
and Wife, Melanie Cox of Arab, Joe and Wife, Lisa Cox of
Hendersonville, TN; Great Nephews: Cory Cox, Jack Cox, Christopher
Cox and David Cox; Great Nieces: Rachel Cox Morrow and Husband,
Ricky, Erin Cox and Sara Reynolds Cox; Great Great Niece: Raylee
Brooke Morrow and Great Great Nephew: Dylan Lee Morrow
Funeral Service was Tues. Oct. 11, 2011, at 2 PM at Arab
First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Murphy officiating. Burial
was in Arab Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was at Gober Funeral
Chapel Monday from 6-8 PM. He lay in state at the Church on
Tues. from 1-2 PM. Pallbearers were: Vernon Glass, Don Lackey, Fred
Jones, George Pollock, Gaylon Chafin and Larry Crawford. Honorary
was Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class.
