Mr. James Howard Hughes age 78 of Joppa passed away Sat. Nov.
19, 2011, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hughes was born
on Dec. 30, 1932 to A.J. and Ruth Knight Hughes. He was married to
Lora Graves Hughes, was a Veteran of the Korean War and worked as a
Truck Driver and Security Guard for Goldkist before retirement. He
was a member of Fairview Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Hughes is survived by Wife: Lora Hughes of Joppa; Children:
Michael Willis Hughes of Joppa, William "Billy" Hughes of Winter
Haven, FL, Clare Ruth Nelms of Winter Haven, FL, Margaret Ann
Hughes of Winter Haven, FL, Nora Faye Riley of Joppa, James Allen
Wood of Winter Haven, FL, Susan Ann Wood of Holly Pond and James A.
Hughes of South Carolina; 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great
Grandchildren
Preceded in death by: Daughter: Debra Jean Carden, Son: Marcus
Powell Hughes, Grandson: Marcus "Doodlebug" Hughes and
Granddaughter: Cindy Jean Carden
Funeral Service was Tues. Nov. 22, 2011, at 2 PM at Fairview
Church of the Nazarene with Bro. James McGraw officiating. Burial
was in New Jerusalem Cemetery. Visitation was at Gober Funeral
Chapel Monday from 6-8 PM. He lay in state at the Church from
12-2 PM on Tues.
Pallbearers were Daniel McGraw, Mike Wallace, Chris Ray, Scott
Lee and Earl Graves; Honorary will be James Ellis "DJ" Hughes.
