Mr. Joseph "Joe" Franklin Murphy age 80 of Arab passed away Thurs. Sept. 22, 2011, at Shepherd's Cove. Mr. Murphy was born on November 20, 1930, in Moghan, West Virginia to James Albert and Bertha Jewell Murphy. He served nine years in the Navy and 20 years in the Air Force before retiring. He then went into the Carpet business in West, Virginia and later moved to Arab.

He is survived by his Wife: Glenda Murphy of Arab; Daughters and Sons in law: Patricia Munsey of Arab, Janet and Randy Byrd of Arab and Barbara and David DeBoard of Arab; Grandchildren: Joe Burton, Jeff Miller, Kathrine Byrd, Jacob Byrd, Jason Byrd and LaShae Green; Great Grandchildren: Emma Jo Claire Miller, Alex Miller, Joe Neeley, Starr Neeley and Emma Jo Gail Light

Preceded in death by Granddaughter: Laura Ann Munsey

Funeral Service was Monday Sept. 26, 2011, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Hamaker officiating. Burial with full Military Honors was in Brashier's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday from 6-8 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel.
