Mr. Lester E. McElroy age 87of Covington, LA and formerly of Arab died Thurs. Aug. 11, 2011, at his residence. Mr. McElroy was born on Dec. 10, 1923, in Marshall County, AL to Riley E. and Lindy McClung McElroy. He was a Computer Specialist for Army Missile Command-NASA and was married to Sally Isbell McElroy. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include: Wife: Sally Isbell McElroy of Covington, LA; Daughters and Sons in law: Dianne and Tom Quinn of Mandeville, LA, Carol and Johnny Woods of Warner Robbins, GA and Beth and Carlos Antillon of Tupelo, MS; Grandchildren: Alan and Katie Silvey of Madison, AL, Casey and Shane Gleason of Mandeville, LA and Travis and Brooke Cabler of Bedico, LA; Laura and David Sisk of Byhalia, MS, Jason and Jessica Dennis of Pass Christian, MS, Ellen Quinn of Stamford, CT, Brandon and Dianna Brown of Sacramento, CA, Wes and Cynthia Cornman and Adrienne Woods of Warner Robbins , GA; Carmen Antillon and Jesse and Angie Morris of Tupelo, MS; 19 Great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews: He was preceded in death by: Parents: Riley and Lindy McElroy; Sister and Brother in law: Janie and Tommy Knight all of Union Grove; and Sister and Brother in law: Hester and Frank Culpepper of Opelika, AL

 

Funeral Service was  Tues. Aug. 16, 2011, at 11 AM at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in Brookwood Cemetery. Rev. Buddy Strickland officiated. Visitation was Monday from 5-8 PM and Tues. from 10-11 AM at Gober Funeral Chapel.

 

Pallbearers will be: Tom Quinn, Johnny Woods, Alan Silvey, Gary Knight, Ray R. Knight, Randy Bryant

    dear family, I'm not sure you will remember me but we lived just down the road from the church. I remember your mom and dad from childhood and your mom was my teacher at one time.I was sorry to hear of Mr. Mcelroy's passing He was a kind and good man my family thought the world of your parents and their siblings as well. Please tell Sally I am thinking and praying for her as well as all of you. May God bless and comfort you.
