Ruth Craft

Ruth Craft age 94, of Arab passed away on Wed. Aug. 23, 2017, at Marshall Medical Center North. Mrs. Craft was born on Dec. 7, 1922, in Cullman, AL the daughter of W.C. “Collins” Pruett and Maye Akin Pruett. She graduated from Fairview High School and she enjoyed a career with Huntsville Production Credit Association. She was also a Licensed Cosmetologist and she worked for a number of years at Merle Norman Studio in Arab. She was a faithful member of Arab First United Methodist Church where she had served as Church Secretary and held many positions throughout her time there. She also sang in the Church Choir for many years. Mrs. Craft was a very talented floral designer and enjoyed making arrangements for family and friends as well as for decorating graves of loved ones. She and her Husband, Gene Craft enjoyed playing golf. They played with the Twilight League at Twin Lakes for many years. She was one of the most gracious, loving and giving person, friend and Mother that anyone could ever hope to have in their life. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her Daughter: Elizabeth Craft Stewart of Birmingham; Granddaughter: Gabrielle Eleina Stewart of Birmingham; Sister in law: Geraldine Craft of the Simcoe Community; Special Cousins: Judy Robertson, Helen Foster, Sue Watts, Vonda Melton and Carolyn Patterson; Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. She was preceded in death by her Parents: W.C. “Collins” and Maye Akin Pruett; Husband: Eugene “Gene” Craft; Siblings: Frances Dye and Clomar Pruett and Son in law: Al Stewart. A Funeral Service will be held on Sat. Aug. 26, 2017, at 2 PM at Arab First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve West, Rev. Ed Robertson and the Honorable Beth Chapman, officiating. Burial will follow in Simcoe United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 PM until the time of service at 2 PM at Arab First United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be: Mr. Greg Hendrix, Mr. Richard Craft, Mr. Donnie Davidson, the Honorable Lyles Burke, Mr. Jimmy Don Walker and Mr. Jim Stewart. Gober Funeral Chapel of Arab directing.
