Glennis Leak NeSmith, 91of the Shady Grove Community, found eternal peace and rest on May 20, 2020. She was born March 12, 1929 in Cullman County, Alabama in the New Canaan community. Glennis was the eldest of two children of Edward Leroy (Roy) Leak and Clois Maze Leak. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Herbert (Hub) NeSmith, her parents and her brother, James Douglas Leak. Glennis was a member of the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, where her husband, Elder Herbert NeSmith, served as pastor for several years before he retired. Her deep spiritual nature complemented the spiritual legacy of her husband. She was a silent minister with a special way of engaging others, especially young people. Glennis had a wonderful gift of seeing beauty in the smallest things around her and this inspired her imagination and nurtured her talents. She was an accomplished seamstress and designed many of the clothes she made. Glennis was a self-taught artist and a skillful home decorator. She is survived by children, Billie Spicuzza (husband Frank) of Knoxville, Tenn., Sarah NeSmith, and Larry NeSmith (wife Vicki) of Huntsville, AL; grandson, Tray NeSmith (wife Linnie); step-grandchildren Chris and Scott Beshears; great-grandchildren Jordan, Christian, Bennett, and Karson NeSmith, and Emma Bearden, and step-great-grandchildren Brady, Hunter, Victoria, and Lawson Beshears; step-great-great-grandchild Braxton Beshears and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 23, 2020, at the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Greg Stone officiating. The family has requested in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Shady Grove Baptist Church cemetery fund or Comfort Care Hospice of Huntsville, Alabama.
