Howard Earl Smith, 85 of Arab Passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 15, 1931 in Calhoun County to Samuel P. Smith and Grace Lucille Webb Smith. He served his country in the US Army with dignity, honor and courage, having been awarded the Purple Heart during the Korean War. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church and the VFW. He is survived by his Wife of 62 Years: Mary Sargent Smith; 3 Daughters: Belinda (Jeff) Leak, Deana (Jim) Boyer and Missy Smith; 3 Grandchildren: Heath (Claire) Charles, Jonathon King & Clayton Leak; 3 Great Grandchildren: Koda, Korleigh & Kenzie; 2 Brothers: Larry Smith & Rickey Smith; 4 Sisters: Juanita Lee, Lucille Brooks, Martha Ayers & Sue McNeil Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Monday, July 31, 2017, at the New Friendship Baptist Church with Brother Arthur Feemster and Brother Greg Stone officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the United States Army will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 - 2:00 on Monday, July 31, 2017. Pallbearers: Jeff Leak , Jim Boyer, Heath Charles, Jonathon King, Clayton Leak and Dana Whitt; Honorary Pallbearers: Rickey Stewart and Max Glass
