Jesse Glenn Brown Sr

July 15, 1930 - March 23, 2019

Jesse Glenn Brown, Sr. age 88, of Arab passed away Sat. March 23, 2019, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham. Mr. Brown was born on July 15, 1930, in Marshall County, AL the Son of John Henry and Ethel Womack Brown. After graduating high school, he entered the US Army where he served from 1948-1953. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. After serving in the Army, he served in the Army Reserves for almost 40 years. He ended his military career as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 of the Army Reserves. He obtained a Masters in Healthcare Administration degree from the University of South Carolina and an undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama. In April 1953, he married Eloise Strickland and they had two Sons, Jesse Glenn, Jr. and Terry Lynn. Mr. Brown enjoyed a long career as Administrator at Arab Hospital from 1962-1989 and for the last 7 or 8 years of his tenure he was also Administrator of Guntersville Hospital. He served during the 80’s as a 2 term President of the Alabama Hospital Association Board. After completion of the new facility in Scant City he retired from hospital administration and started a new venture when he established Rural Healthcare Associates. He was a member and Deacon of Arab 1st Baptist Church and served in various capacities through the years there. Mr. Brown was also a long time member of the Arab Rotary Club. Survivors include his Wife of almost 66 years, Eloise Brown of Arab; Sons: Jesse Glenn Brown, Jr. of Arab and Terry Lynn (Ginger) Brown of Port St. Lucie, Florida; Grandchildren: Jason (Meagan) Brown, Adam (Eve) Brown, Brody (Bryce) Brown and Jesse G. Brown, III; Great Grandchildren: Gavin Brown, Grayson Brown and Gabriella Brown; Sister in law: Anita Brown of GA; Brother in law and Sister in law: Bill and Christine Newland of Arab; and a host of nieces and nephews; Preceded in death by his Parents: John Henry and Ethel Brown; Brothers and Sisters: Verleah Irene Brown Driver, Henry Leon Brown, Vernelle Idora Brown Hasty, Herbert Briggs Brown and Pearlie Belle “Pat” Brown Newland. Funeral Service will be held on Thurs. March 28, 2019, at 2 PM at the Arab 1st Baptist Church with Dr. Clint Landry officiating. Burial will follow in Marshall Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wed. March 27th, from 6-8 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel. Mr. Brown’s body will lie in State at the Church from 1-2 PM prior to the service on Thurs.
