Rick Brown

August 22, 1953 - May 10, 2018

Rick Brown age 64, of Arab passed away Thurs. May 10, 2018, at his residence. Rick was born on August 22, 1953, in Marshall County, AL the Son of Braxton and Hazel Henderson Brown. Rick worked for several years in law enforcement and enjoyed working as an announcer on radio. He then found his true calling when he began working in the funeral profession. He received his degree in Funeral Service Education from Jefferson State Community College in 1995. Rick worked at several different funeral homes and retired due to declining health a few years ago. He was working at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville at the time of retirement. He was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of both the Union Grove and the Guntersville Masonic Lodge. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He was an avid Auburn and Atlanta Braves fan. Rick is survived by his Wife: Ann Brown of Arab; Daughter: Michelle (Chris) Garrison of Arab; Son: Brandon Brown (Brandon Cathey) of Nashville, TN; Grandsons: Jaxon Garrison of Arab and Coy David Brown-Cathey of Nashville, TN; He is also survived by Brothers in law, Sisters in law, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his Parents and by his Brother: Ronnie Brown. Funeral Service will be Sat. May 12, 2018, at 11 AM at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Lackey and Rev. Greg Stone, officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery following Masonic Grave Side Rites. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel. He will lie in state at the Church on Sat. from 9 AM until service time at 11 AM. Pallbearers will be members of the Union Grove and Guntersville Masonic Lodges.
