Sarah Virginia Ferguson

August 21, 1933 - December 8, 2021

Sarah Virginia Black Ferguson, 88 of the Morgan City community passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Marshall Medical Center North. Sarah was born August 21, 1933, the daughter of Harvey Black and Lula Narrell Black. She was a 1951 graduate of Arab High School, then she received her master’s degree in education from Jacksonville State University. She taught school at Midway and several other schools, but most of her teaching years were in Shelby County at Chelsea Elementary School, she retired in 1996 after teaching for over 30 years. Sarah was married to Forrest Stanley Ferguson in 1967 and lived in the Meadowbrook subdivision in Birmingham for over 20 years. Shortly after her husband’s death in 2009, Sarah and her sister, Willsie moved back to their farm in Morgan City. Sarah is survived by her beloved pets Bear and Daisy; A host of nieces, nephews, other family and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Stanley Ferguson, Parents: Harvey and Lula Black, Sisters: Willsie Black and Betty Jo Black Huggins, Brothers: Charles Dale Black and Maurice Black. Graveside Service was held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Brookwood Cemetery with Brother Greg Stone officiating, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
