Our History

Our History

In 1954, Mr. John W. Gober, Jr., acquired from Mr. W.H. Pruitt the funeral home that he operated in his home on Main Street.  Mr. Gober operated from there until 1962, when the present facility was built on Guntersville Road.  From 1954 until failing health forced him to retire in the late 90's Mr. Gober served the families of Arab with compassion and care that made Gober Funeral Chapel a trusted name for several decades.  Today that name is still a beacon in Funeral Service and even a few of Mr. Gober's employees still remain here serving as he taught us.  It is our desire to see that the level of care and dedication to service continues to reach the high bar set so many years ago.  We hope that you find this website informative and helpful.
